Betsafe Sportsbook Review
Betsafe launched in January 2006 and has established itself well since. As the official betting partner of Manchester City it’s gained significant credibility and exposure in the EPL, and football in general.
This long term deal, signed in October 2015, allows the bookmaker promotional opportunities across the club’s digital media and at the Etihad, with exclusive betting offers reserved for City fans.
In 2011 Betsafe Group was acquired by Swedish firm Betsson AB, a publicly traded company in existence since 1963 and listed on the NASDAQ Stockholm Large Cap List.
Betsafe is a big believer in brand ambassadors and has a number of big names across more niche sports. These ambassadors, collectively known as Team Betsafe, are Artur Boruc (football), Sebastian Steudtner (surfing), Triana Iglesias (poker), Andrzej Fonfara (boxing), Carro Djupsjö (wakeboarding), Jon Olsson (skiing), Espen Fadnes (extreme sports) and Emil Weber Meek (MMA).
Betsafe is also big on innovative and forward thinking promotion. As part of ‘World of Betsafe’ it holds regular Betsafe Challenges, it was the main partner of the Gumball 3000 event in 2015 in which Dolph Lundgren drove one of the cars alongside Team Betsafe ambassadors. In 2013 it sponsored a team in the Mongol Rally, and there are other similarly extreme projects on its horizon. Put simply, Betsafe is a bookmaker which does everything it can to live up to its motto; ‘In it to win it.’
The bookmaker has over 500,000 customers from over 100 countries, and is undoubtedly a leading global betting supplier.
Betsafe offers the expected markets, with a range of football, basketball and tennis markets in addition to a particularly huge range of ice hockey markets which is a nod to its Scandinavian heritage.
The bookmaker offers more niche markets such as pesapallo and even table tennis, and at the time of writing it was offering 63 esports markets which is considerably more than many of the competition. It offers some political and entertainment markets though these are limited.
Betsafe offers live betting markets in a number of sports such as football, basketball, tennis, volleyball and many more. The live betting section is nicely laid out, and clicking on the event down the lefthand column all of which show the score and the time smoothly brings it up as the main featured match which then gives more detailed information.
Usability of the site
The Betsafe site includes good graphics complemented by a fast load time. The red and grey colour scheme adds to its sleekness as does the simple layout. Two horizontal navigation bars are beneficial for new users and old, and includes a link to the World of Betsafe site which makes for an interesting read for sports fans in its own right. The secondary bar, which changes accordingly with the selection along the top, includes links to certain key markets or time centric promotions. Under sports for example at the time of writing it has a Pep Guardiola special amongst others, and such a layout makes the product stand out from the typical, predictable sportsbook.
Customer support is 24/7 and includes live chat, email and phone. Via mobile customers have the choice of the mobile site, or to download the Betsafe app, available on both android and iOS, it’s a strong product which pushes live betting in a big way.
Forward thinking and stylish with a strong marketing and promotional team, Betsafe has come a long way since 2006 and with the Man City partnership behind them, that looks set to continue.
Betsafe is big on new markets such as those in esports and its promotions sections is competitive. Under the Betsson umbrella, and with 24/7 customer support and a good mobile offering, whilst it has restrictions in play in some countries the overall product is strong enough that it should continue to grow.
