Sbobet Sportsbook Review
SBOBET is an established online bookmaker. It is both Asian facing and European facing, with a licence in the Philippines and the Isle of Man.
Founded in 2003, it grew fast and in 2009 the Isle of Man-based operations of SBOBET became the first operator licensed there to be allowed to launch a live dealer casino. The site is available in multiple languages and offers a sportsbook, poker, casino, parimutuel betting and financial betting too.
SBOBET has been the official Asian Betting Partner of a host of Premier League clubs including Swansea City, West Ham, Southampton, Hull City and Norwich City. It was also the official shirt sponsor for West Ham during the 2012-13 season, and Cardiff City in 2010-11.
A more recent partnership was in February 2016 in the form of a deal between SBOBET and Wexford Youth. In the same season the operator became the official betting partner of Dundalk FC and their League of Ireland rivals St.Patrick’s Athletic.
SBOBET also sponsored the very first Soccerex Asian Forum in Singapore in 2010.
SBOBET has a presence on Twitter, Youtube and Google+.
SBOBET customers have a wealth of betting options at their fingertips, and to make things easier we’ve brought together the entirety of these options in a handy list right here: Football, Basketball, Baseball, Tennis, American Football, Athletics, Badminton, Beach Soccer, Boxing, Cricket, Cycling, Darts, Esports, Field Hockey, Futsal, Gaelic Football, Golf, Handball, Hurling, Ice Hockey, Lacrosse, MMA, Motor Sport, Olympics, Pool/Snooker, Rugby, Squash, Table Tennis, Volleyball, Water Polo and Winter Sports.
In addition to these SBOBET offers financials betting, and markets in both entertainment and politics.
SBOBET offers in-play betting markets but it is not anywhere near as heavily promoted as it is by other bookmakers. It has no main tab horizontally for instance but is a small, somewhat hard to spot, option above the list of markets on the left hand side.
The layout is also not too modern, in this way it’s in keeping with the rest of the site but stands out particularly in a live betting scenario wherein the focus is massively on the excitement, adrenaline and fun.
SBOBET does have live streaming but generally you must first place a bet on the event before you’re able to watch it. SBOBET also offers cash out.
Usability of the site
The site is very mathematical and less focused on promoting a glitzy site which catches your eye than it is for promoting odds and markets old school style. There is an optimised mobile site which is ideal if you’re on the go, as so many of us are these days.
Customer support is available and in the form of live chat, email (email@example.com) and over the phone (Europe +44 1624 721960 and Asia: +63 28563776).
In fact the range of SBOBET customer support options is fantastic, they even have a Skype contact (sbo-css) and the live chat was fast to respond during the test to boot.
The site is available in a range of languages and due to its Asian facing side of the business the variety of languages is greater than in most sportsbooks; it offers Burmese for example. SBOBET includes all the usual banking methods for deposits and withdrawal, it doesn’t include Paypal though this is not at all unusual for betting operators.
As a European and Asian facing online bookie SBOBET is well placed to offer Asian Handicap betting and does so well, to its credit.
The site could use modernising but the mobile site’s functionality is good, there are a huge number of sports to bet on, and with financial betting too customers have plenty of options. Moreover the range of customer support options is frankly impressive!
