BetPhoenix Sportsbook Review
In San Jose, Costa Rica BetPhoenix was founded in 2006 and is the flagship bookmakers of BetPhoenix Entertainment Group, a company that also runs several subsidiary Sportbooks: BetMania and SkyBook. BetPhoenix has enjoyed a varied ethical practice and player satisfaction history with many complaints in their earlier years of trading – a theme that has since rescinded.
The problematic earlier years of this bookmaker enjoyed a disparaging number of customer complaints. However, this appeared to wane around 2012, but with such previous issues BetPhoenix remains an untrustworthy sportsbook firm for many. Questionable ethical practice appears to have been rife, with the Syndicate Betting rule being reeled out seemingly when it suited. This involved many big winners being branded as professionals with their winnings being slow paid over a number of years.
Furthermore, BetPhoenix makes withdrawals a long-winded and often expensive process, including bizarrely high fees and withdrawal limits. However, since various complaints were made and international organisations monitored their performance and practice, BetPhoenix appears to have improved their game and now offers a reliable service. That said, it remains that a less than transparent history leave BetPhoenix a difficult to trust sportsbook due to previous dishonest and highly questionable trading standards.
Their primary betting market is North American sports, with the usual Basketball, Baseball, Football, Hockey, and the increasingly popular Soccer taking up the majority of their sporting focus. This includes both American Canadian and a large variety of leagues and levels from College to professional. Additionally, they also offer an extensive range of non North American sporting leagues with European and also Asian Soccer and Basketball leagues making a large appearance. Their full sporting list includes, Horse Racing, Tennis, Mixed Martial Arts, Golf, Cricket, Boxing, Rugby, Motor Racing, Darts, Ausie Rules and Cycling.
Their live betting options are limited, as they only offer some nationally televised sports including NFL, NBA and MLB for customers to live bet on. Compared to some other sites, and indeed the rest of their own nicely developed website, BetPhoenix offers a comparatively poor interface and sparse in play betting options, in addition to the limited number of games to bet on. Furthermore, they also offer limits on in-play bets to $500, and even sometimes $100.
BetPhoenix does not offer 24/7 support; it does offer the opportunity to call them directly for free, from the UK, Vietnam and China. In addition it offers a variety of customer service departments tailored for you to contact the correct team in case of need, via email with a quick reply rate. Furthermore they offer a live chat service for customers between 8 am – 1 2pm EST and 5am – 9 am PST.
BetPehonix offers average limits in regard to betting limits, they offer $5,000 limits on sides for the big four North American sports and $3,000 on totals. With other sports having a variety of limits including European Basketball leagues being limited to $1,000.
Offering a decent but not outstanding overall package, BetPhoenix leaves themselves vulnerable to competitors due to their untoward background. However, with almost five years of clean trading and practice, BetPhoenix can probably be considered a safe pair of hands. Offering a clear and decent website with great customer service they do offer a reasonably well-polished bookmakers product. However, that fact that they make withdrawals such a drawn out and long process means they still have some way to go before they will strike mass appeal in the sportsbook and bookmakers market.
